Special Session with MAASive:
"Enhancing Value Chain Resilience through Digital Technologies" (Code 78r58)

The MAASive Open Invited Track Session invites researchers and practitioners to submit papers for special sessions on key topics, including digital technologies, value chain resilience, Manufacturing-as-a-Service (MaaS), digital manufacturing, sustainability, and skill development. This is an opportunity to contribute to advancing the future of resilient and sustainable value chains.

Session Objectives and Scope:

Global value chains are increasingly vulnerable to disruptions arising from geopolitical tensions, climate change, and evolving consumer demands. These disruptions highlight structural fragilities and expose the urgent need for resilience in supply and value networks. At the same time, advanced paradigms such as Manufacturing-as-a-Service (MaaS) and digital technologies offer unprecedented opportunities to transform value chain operations, enhancing agility, scalability, and robustness.

This session provides a multidisciplinary platform for researchers and practitioners to explore the transformative role of digitalization in creating resilient and sustainable value chains. By leveraging real-time visibility, predictive analytics, digital twins, and decentralized manufacturing approaches, organizations can ensure continuity while addressing environmental and societal expectations. The track also highlights tools, frameworks, and skill development strategies, such as gamification, that enable industries to operationalize resilience in practice.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Resilience frameworks and metrics for global value chains

  • Digital technologies (digital twins, AI, IoT, blockchain, cloud) for enhancing visibility and responsiveness

  • Manufacturing-as-a-Service (MaaS): models, architectures, and business implications

  • Decentralized and digital manufacturing strategies for resilience and flexibility

  • Sustainability in resilient value chains, balancing environmental, economic, and social objectives

  • Gamification, training, and digital tools for resilience-related and digital skills development

  • Decision-support and simulation approaches for disruption management and recovery
