European Big Data Value Forum 2025
The MAASive project actively contributed to the European Big Data Value Forum 2025, held in Copenhagen at DGI Byen on 14 November, by participating in the session “Implementing Manufacturing-as-a-Service platforms in a supply chain B2B resilient Data Space” .
Represented by Sergio Gusmeroli of Politecnico di Milano and Thomas Ditlev Brunø of Aalborg University, MAASive presented its ongoing work on strengthening manufacturing resilience through the adoption of the Manufacturing-as-a-Service (MaaS) paradigm.
During the session, the team highlighted how MAASive is developing models and tools to enable the servitization and orchestration of distributed manufacturing assets, allowing companies within European value networks to react more effectively to disruptions.
The session placed MAASive’s contributions in the broader context of Horizon Europe research, alongside the sister projects M4ESTRO and NARRATE, offering a comparative view on how different initiatives interpret and implement MaaS platforms.
Discussions explored the shift from traditional centralized service marketplaces toward data-sovereign, distributed manufacturing ecosystems enabled by emerging B2B Data Spaces, addressing challenges related to secure data sharing, semantic interoperability, governance frameworks, and the integration of Digital Twin technologies.
Following the project presentations, a panel featuring Sergio Gusmeroli, Thomas Ditlev Brunø, Konstantina Tsioli, and Dr. Bernd Krämer engaged the audience in an in-depth dialogue on the opportunities and barriers surrounding the industrial uptake of MaaS in Europe.
The session provided an engaging space for exchanging knowledge, reflecting on the evolving state of digital manufacturing, and reinforcing the collaborative momentum among Horizon Europe projects working toward more resilient, sustainable, and data-driven value networks.
